Structure ? How… Why
Our partners
Nikolay Veselovski and Vitaly IIinykh have been the first Russians to organize and commercially run helicopter skiing in Russia. They created their travel agency "Vertikalny Mir" more than fifteen years ago. They organise our trips in Russia in a very reliable and friendly way.
Guiding
To safely run heli-skiing in Caucasus and in Kamchatka, because of the dimensions and wilderness of our locations, we offer a specialized guiding standard: One helicopter for a group of a maximum 12 skiers leaded by two UIAGM Mountain Guides and one highly experienced Russian heli-guide.
Our guides are linked together and with the helicopter by radio as well as with the local civil security and our helicopter carries rescue equipment.
Each participant will be equipped with an avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel and probe as well as a special backpack: ABS – Airbag ( www.abs-lawinenairbag.de ).
Our helicopter
The machines we use are MI 8 helicopters; the world most built helicopter, which is known to be robust and extremely powerful. Private companies, like Gazprom or Kamchatka Airlines guaranteeing maintenance according to the international maintenance protocols, manage the helicopters we charter. They are equipped for 20 passengers with 2 pilots and one mechanical engineer as a standard crew. The pilots are trained and experienced in mountain flights and have been working for several years with us. They have proved their abilities during perfect drop-offs in strong winds and took sensible decisions when the conditions were too rough.
In the Kamchatka, the helicopter is totally reserved for us! There are no restrictions on landing zones others than weather and snow conditions.
Our helicopter calculation
In opposition to many traditional heli-skiing companies, who base their helicopter calculation on vertical meters, we prefer to relate to the actual flying time. This method proves not only to be more transparent, but also seems to be more adapted. We can react to any given condition and we have the possibility to explore the best locations. A good day offers 6.000 to 12.000 vertical meters of descent and represents around 2.5 hours of flying! The helicopter time included in these packages is the time needed in normal, standard conditions. If we cannot use the whole included time, we will pay back the remaining hours.
